Short-term care in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, for a family-carer break or additional support. Discuss a personal assessment, all-inclusive fees and available dates with our team.

High‑Quality Respite Care at Esmere Gardens
Respite care is a temporary stay that provides support for an older person while a family carer takes a break, or when extra help is needed for a period of time. At Esmere Gardens in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, short stays are planned around the person’s assessed needs and familiar routines.
A stay may be considered after a hospital discharge, during a change at home or while longer-term options are explored. We discuss suitability, the proposed dates and current room availability before agreeing an admission.
You do not need to manage the arrangements alone. Tell us what support is needed, and we will explain the assessment and next steps.
Personalised Care, Delivered with Exceptional Attention
Before the stay, we learn about the person’s care needs, medicines, mobility, communication, food preferences and usual routines. Relevant care records and, where appropriate, conversations with healthcare professionals help us plan appropriate support.
We discuss whether personal care, nursing support or dementia care is needed. A short stay is only agreed when we can meet assessed needs safely.
Respite guests have a private room and opportunities to enjoy the home’s shared spaces, gardens and meals prepared by experienced chefs. Our team takes time to learn the small details that help the person feel familiar and comfortable.
Ask us what to bring, which personal items can be accommodated and how family visits can be arranged. See more of daily life at Esmere Gardens.

Respite Care at Esmere Gardens in Moreton‑in‑Marsh
A family-carer break, recovery after illness and a trial of life in a care home are different situations. We start by understanding the purpose of the stay and the support required, rather than assuming one arrangement suits everyone.
For a hospital discharge, our team needs appropriate care and medical information before deciding whether admission is suitable. Our hospital-discharge guide includes practical questions for families to ask.
We also discuss the planned end of the stay. Returning home, extending the stay or considering longer-term care depends on the person’s wishes, needs, assessment and availability. An extension is not automatic.
Planning a More Personal Welcome
Before arrival, we explain what records, medication information, clothing and personal items are needed. Share familiar routines, interests and anything that may cause worry, so we can plan a more personal welcome.
Our care-home moving checklist can help you prepare. We will confirm the arrangements for your particular stay and who to contact with questions.

We provide person-centred support for people with low to moderate dementia care needs, subject to individual assessment, suitability and availability. Not sure which service fits? You do not need to choose a label before speaking to us. Residential and nursing care describe the support required. Dementia support may involve either; at Esmere Gardens, it is limited to low to moderate dementia care needs. Respite describes a temporary stay, while an urgent admission is a way of arranging suitable care at short notice. Assessment helps us identify the right approach.
Need care sooner?
Start with a conversation.
A hospital discharge may be approaching, care at home may have become difficult to manage, or a family carer may suddenly be unable to continue. We can consider urgent or short-notice admissions when suitable support and a room are available.
We will discuss the situation, the information needed and whether we can safely provide the right care. An urgent admission still requires assessment, medication information and safe transfer planning.
This is a care-home admission service. If someone needs emergency medical help, call 999.

More reassurance.
Fewer unknowns.
Alongside individual care, we want families to understand the medical support available and how the agreed fee works.
Already included.
Permanent residents and respite guests benefit from dedicated private GP support, working alongside our nursing team and NHS services.
Ask us how residents access the service and how the partnership supports their care.
Private GP support complements NHS care and does not replace urgent or emergency services.
Clearer costs. Greater confidence.
Accommodation, agreed care and everyday services come together in one clearly explained package.
Your fee will not increase simply because assessed care needs change. We explain your fee, inclusions, exclusions and review arrangements before admission.
Annual fee reviews and the terms of your agreement still apply. Continuing care depends on our ability to meet assessed needs safely.
Support that protects dignity.
Daily life that feels personal.
Good care makes room for more than practical tasks. It should make room for familiar routines, favourite foods, conversation, interests and time with the people who matter.
- Thoughtful surroundings: private rooms, shared living spaces and gardens for company or quiet time.
- Technology supporting care: circadian lighting designed to support natural sleep and waking patterns, and fall-monitoring sensors to help alert the team when support may be needed.
- Food to enjoy: nutritious meals prepared by experienced chefs, with attention to dietary needs and preferences.
- Individual choice: opportunities for activities, companionship and familiar routines, shaped around the resident.

A clearer next step.
At a pace that feels right.
We will explain what happens next and keep the person’s needs, choices and wellbeing at the centre of the conversation.

Questions about
our care services.
What care services does Esmere Gardens provide?
Esmere Gardens Nursing Home in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire provides residential, nursing and respite care, plus dementia support for low to moderate care needs. We cannot accommodate high-level or complex dementia care needs. We can also consider urgent admissions. All admissions depend on assessment, availability and our ability to meet the person’s needs safely.
What is the difference between residential and nursing care?
Residential care supports everyday needs such as personal care, mobility, meals and routines. Nursing care includes this support alongside registered nursing care for assessed health needs. We will help establish the appropriate level of support through assessment.
Can someone living with dementia receive residential or nursing care?
Yes, depending on individual assessment. At Esmere Gardens, dementia support is for people with low to moderate care needs only. We cannot accommodate high-level or complex dementia care needs. A diagnosis alone does not determine suitability; we assess the person’s overall health, daily living, communication, routines and wellbeing.
Can you help after a hospital stay?
We can consider a respite or longer-term admission after a hospital stay, subject to assessment and availability. We need sufficient information about care needs, medication and discharge arrangements to plan a safe transfer.
How quickly can an urgent admission be arranged?
Timing depends on room availability, the person’s needs and the information required to plan care safely. Call 01608 692222 to explain the situation. We will discuss what may be possible without promising an admission before assessment.
Can respite care help us decide about a longer stay?
A respite stay can offer an opportunity to experience the home, subject to assessment and availability. It does not guarantee a permanent room. We will discuss the agreed length of stay and any options for extending it.
Are registered nurses available day and night?
Registered nurses are on site 24 hours a day. Nursing care is planned according to assessed needs, alongside the wider care team. Ask us how the staffing and support arrangements relate to your loved one’s needs.
Is private GP support included?
Dedicated private GP support is included for permanent residents and respite guests, working alongside our nursing team and NHS services. Ask us how access and appointments work. It does not replace urgent or emergency services.
What happens if care needs increase?
We review care and discuss suitable support as needs develop. Your fee will not increase simply because assessed care needs change. Annual fee reviews and agreement terms still apply, and continuing care depends on our ability to meet assessed needs safely.
How do I arrange an assessment, ask about fees or book a visit?
Call 01608 692222 or complete our contact form . We will discuss your circumstances, current availability and the next steps. You do not need to decide which care service to request before contacting us.
